What is Metaphysics?

Metaphysics can be understood in a variety of ways:

The term “Metaphysics” is the combination of two words; Meta & Physics. Physics is the branch of science dealing with the matter and its motion, while Meta is a Greek word, while means beyond, over or before something. Metaphysics implies to all the knowledge that is beyond the understanding of physics.

Metaphysics is a study of what is outside objective experience.

Metaphysics is the branch of philosophy responsible for the study of existence. It is the foundation of a worldview. It answers the question “What is?” It encompasses everything that exists, as well as the nature of existence itself. It says whether the world is real, or merely an illusion. It is a fundamental view of the world around us.

Metaphysics is the study of the fundamental nature of all reality — what is it, why is it, and how are we can understand it. Some treat metaphysics as the study of “higher” reality or the “invisible” nature behind everything, but that isn’t true. It is, instead, the study of all of reality, visible and invisible.

Metaphysics is referred to as a branch of Philosophy that deals with First Cause and the Nature of Being.

Metaphysics is the study of the nature of reality, existence, and who we really are. Reality is how we perceive our physical life experience. If we do not perceive correctly, we cannot make the proper decisions and take the proper actions to ensure our survival and success.
